Pacific Pride Foundation (Pacific Pride) is the largest LGBTQ+ center between Los Angeles and San Francisco, serving all of Santa Barbara County. Partnering with 65 educational and nonprofit agencies, we create a thriving and visible LGBTQ+ community and prevent the transmission of HIV and HEP-C. Serving more than 10,000 people per year with an annual budget of $1.3 million, our inclusive and diverse programs include; youth programs, elder programs, counseling services, LGBTQ+ competency training, community events, and advocacy on LGBTQ+ issues.
Development Director Position Description

We are seeking a full-time, Santa-Barbara-based Development Director to create and implement a robust development plan, building our fundraising efficacy. This position is ideal for a skilled, self-motivated development professional with passion, understanding, and respect for the LGTBQ+ community. The Development Director will report to the Executive Director and together they will shape a development department to best position Pacific Pride to provide critical services for the long-term.

This highly visible leadership role will afford you the opportunity to make a direct impact on the LGBTQ+ community while using your expertise to build a thriving development department.
The expectations of this role include:
Design and implement a comprehensive plan for fundraising activities spanning the continuum from donor cultivation, through solicitation and on to stewardship. Lead major gift strategies as well as annual giving and planned giving opportunities.
Research, write, coordinate, and submit grant proposals to current and new potential funders.
Supervise the full-time Development & Events Manager and other future development staff.
Manage and analyze constituent information in DonorPerfect. Track donor acknowledgment systems.
Identify opportunities and coordinate requests, while building relationships and making requests.
With the Executive Director, provide coaching for board members in the best practices of fundraising and their key role in Pacific Pride’s success. Provide training for staff and other volunteers, as needed.
Support the Executive Director and guide activities that strategically impact fundraising efforts.
Oversee annual events and encourage increased success year by year.
Grow overall budget and capacity at Pacific Pride Foundation to afford creation and success of endowment and future needs for staffing and growth.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Minimum of five years of relevant development experience.
Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance, plus a desire to make a meaningful difference.
Understanding of the unique philanthropic landscape of Santa Barbara County.
Ability to work independently and with a close team to thoughtfully make strategic decisions that will better the development function of Pacific Pride.
Highest integrity, awareness, and attitude to respectfully engage with both fellow staff and the community we serve.
Experience supervising development staff, including volunteers.
